On Sunday, I joined some fab bloggers in Manchester for a sneak preview of Essence Cosmetics, which will soon be available all over the UK.

“Essence originated in Germany and has become one of the world’s most popular beauty brands.”

Their success is probably down to a number of things, from their fun yet high quality products, their refusal to test on animals and their amazingly purse-friendly prices (ranging from 99p to around £3.99).

The sheer range of products was pretty over-whelming at first but I jumped at the chance to try them out – Essence were very generous in this respect so expect to see lots of reviews coming up! I was pleased to see lots of dupes of more expensive products – for example their Blush Up! is a great alternative to MAC Ripe Peach everyone went crazy for, and I know that if I was going to try the coloured mascara thing I’d go for an Essence version rather than Chanel’s at £25 a pop. Obviously the packaging is nowhere near as fancy as Chanel, but sometimes cheap and cheerful is just what I fancy popping in my basket. Essence even do their own gel nails kit and are constantly releasing new products and seasonal trend collections to keep things fresh.

I will definitely be heading to my local Wilkinson when the range is rolled out UK-wide in July. If you just can’t wait, Essence is currently available at Wilkinson Portsmouth, Castleford, Sunderland, Mansfield, Wood Green and Southend-on-Sea, as well as in mini-stores in the Arndale Centre (Manchester) and Westfield (London).
